Celebrity Skin? Eyebrows? All day eyeliner?

Hi Andie,

I have a few makeup concerns. I know to use brushes when applying makeup but how do I get that celebrity makeup look? I really am at a loss with my eyebrows...How can I get them back in shape? And when I apply eyeliner it tends to disappear throughout the day...any suggestions as to how I can get it to last all day?

- Nicole

Hey Nicole,

I love that you use brushes...such an important part of makeup. In my opinion the tools you use is far more important then the actual makeup. I think this because I use the same brush set no matter what makeup I'm doing but depending on the shoot I often have the makeup provided by the client trying to push their products. The end result is always the same...flawless clean makeup.

To get celebrity makeup you need photo shop. Honestly to get flawless makeup you need flawless skin. Take care of your skin...I'm talking spf everyday lady. Moisturize the hell out of your skin especially now that it's freezing outside. Don't forget the lips...I put on a lip balm every night before bed, if I wake up in the middle of the night I put more on and when I get out of the shower in the morning...you guess it...even more. I cannot tell you how many models I've worked with that have amazing skin but their lips are a train wreck. Once your skin is flawless the makeup part is becomes so much easier.

Brows are tricky. Next time you see someone with brows that you absolutely love ask them who does their brows. Go to that person with a picture of the brows you want. Once you have them shaped professionally you should be able to keep that up on your own with tweezers (I really dislike when people wax my brows so I only tweeze but go with what you're comfortable doing). Having well manicured brows is worth a little extra money...they frame your face. I use a brow pencil from Estee that I swear by. Swing by their counter next time you're at the mall and try it out (you don't have to purchase it then...just "test drive" it...I recommend doing this with all makeup...if you want to try something try it...don't feel pressured to purchase it then...just get the sales associates name and ask for her if you decide to make a purchase).

To get eyeliner to stay better make sure your eyelids aren't greasy or slick when you apply it. Also once you apply the liner tap a matching eyeshadow on top to "set" it. Kind of the same concept of setting foundation with powder. :)

Hope my rambling helped a little. If you have ANY other makeup questions (ever) ask me. I'm not kidding if you read about a new trend or product or technique shoot me an email. I can let you know my opinion. :)

Jan 14 Shoot

Photobucket

Had an awesome shoot yesterday with Neil from Smooth Photography and model Olesya G. from Dallas. I think we were able to get a few really great beauty frames.

Woohoo here are the photos from our shoot.

Busy weekend ahead.

It's been pretty laid back and low key around my place the past week. I had a shoot with photograher Janelle L. on Saturday in Tampa (at an abandoned motel) with four wonderful models who were absolute troopers (Adriana Susana, Adisleydi Alonso, Cobra Renee, Di Zavala) . The shoot we originally planned to submit to a few online fashion magazines but I doubt we were able to get anything from the shoot worth while because it was FREEZING outside. I think the high that day maybe hit 40. So did we get anything for submission, I doubt it but I think we were able to get a few killer beauty shots. Janelle should have those ready by the end of the week (fingers crossed).

I also was in contact with Jon Cancelino today regarding the shoot we had in Orlando late December (Walker 1812 Photography Stuido). He said he's been super swamped but that he will be able to get the images out in the next week. Again with the crossed fingers.

The rest of my week is pretty booked starting on Friday. Friday I'm shooting with a model named Olesya G. and photographer Carol Plymill (her work is SICK). Then Saturday morning I'm testing with a new client (a model management group). If they like my work then they should prove to be a great repetative client booking me at least once a week. That would be amazing. On Sunday I'm shooting with model Cynthia Rodriguez, photographer Bryan from BWL Photography and fashion designer Karmia Brown from Ladiez of Love inc. All great shoots that should produce some top notch images.

Time to get back to normal

It's been an exhausting week. Between Christmas, my birthday and the new year doing makeup has not happened. I did have that shoot in Orlando a few days ago with photographer Jon Cancelino (Sheridan Road Magazine, Teen Vogue Magazine) from Chicago and Jesse Walker (Walker 1812 Studio, Orlando). I think we are going to get some spectacular images from that shoot. As soon as proofs start coming in I'll post them (models Sasha VB, Angee Killian Huntely, Keri Tutein).

As for this week I don't have much scheduled at the beginning of the week. I do have two shoots scheduled with photographer Janelle L. later in the week. We have put together several concept for magazine submission so we're busting our asses to get them perfect. That's one of my goals for early 2010 to get published in a fashion magazine.

I'm going to head out this week and meet wedding planners. I've corresponded with many of them via email but that just isn't enough. I think once they can put a face with the work they may book me more often. I'm also going to get back out on the networking circuit.

Okay off to do things.

2010 this is my year.
